As the time draws closer to move from the safety of Hogwarts and out into the wizarding world, the Ministry of Magic invites you to consider applying for a job working for the governing body of magical Great Britain. Here are just a few of the jobs available to be filled immediately upon graduation:
POSITION: Receptionist/Door Clerk, Ministry of Magic Headquarters
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from Hogwarts or other school of magic, grades of A or higher on any four OWL exams.
DESCRIPTION: Logging visitors and employees entering and exiting the building; weighing wands; overseeing the creation of nametags; fielding questions and giving directions to visitors; miscellaneous office work. 30-40 hrs/week.
SALARY: Starting at 2,400 Galleons/year
POSITION: Clerk, Floo Network Office
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from Hogwarts or other school of magic, grades of A or better on Charms and any other two NEWT exams.
DESCRIPTION: Checking database information on Floo portals against real-time Floo network use; processing applications for Floo network connections; corresponding with FlooBug, the Ministry supplier of Floo powder; miscellaneous office work. 40+ hrs/week.
SALARY: Starting at 4,700 Galleons/year
POSITION: Enforcement Officer, Department of Magical Law Enforcement
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from Hogwarts or other school of magic, grades of A or higher on History of Magic, Charms, and Potions NEWTs.
DESCRIPTION: Enforcing magical law; corroborating with the Prime Minister's Cabinet on Magical Relations regarding non-magical crimes committed by witches and wizards; investigating possible infringements on Magical Law; miscellaneous office work. 40+ hrs/week.
SALARY: Starting at 6,500 Galleons/year
NOTE: Enforcement Officers have the opportunity to apply to Auror training after serving three years with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
POSITION: Beast Handler, Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from Hogwarts or other school of magic, grade of EE or better on Care of Magical Creatures NEWT, grades of A or better on Defense Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Charms, and Herbology NEWTs. Practical experience preferred but not necessary.
DESCRIPTION: Handling and transporting confiscated magical beasts; caring for beasts protected by the Ministry of Magic; investigating sightings of rare magical creatures; miscellaneous office work. Hours vary; 25-40+ hrs/week.
SALARY: Starting at 6,700 Galleons/year
POSITION: Unspeakable, Department of Mysteries
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from Hogwarts or other school of magic. Top-notch academic credentials required.
DESCRIPTION: Varied. Not an office job.
SALARY: Starting at 12,900 Galleons/year
